Tropical tuesday sunset beach dinner – playa Hermosa

This afternoon & evening experience is a scenic journey from the mountains to the sea, offering guests the chance to experience Costa Rica’s landscapes, culture, and coastline in one relaxed flow.

Our journey includes:

• El Jardin, our first stop is at a local gift shop where guests can browse handcrafted items and souvenirs, purchase replenishments if desired & use restrooms.
• A scenic drive through Jáco, including a stop at the iconic Jáco Beach sign and coastal viewpoint.
• A brief pause as the Crocodile Bridge, where its common to spot crocodiles resting below in the river.
• A relaxed stop at Vida Hermosa Beach Front Bar & Restaurant for a refreshment * please note that purchases made here are at an additional cost to the participant.

After time at the beach bar, we continue on a short drive less than 10 minutes to arrive at Hermosa Beach on Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast. Here guests have ample time to wander the shoreline, feel the sand beneath your feet, and breath in the ocean air. As evening approaches we gather for a catered sunset picnic beach dinner with uninterrupted sunset views, where colour washes across the sky and water, and the day releases slowly into evening, allowing the day to gently close as the sun sets over the ocean, before we return to our beautiful estate.

An adventure that balances movement with spaciousness, offering connection, beauty, enjoyment, and ease – allowing you to explore and absorb a wide variety of the amazing experiences Costa Rica has to offer!

Poás – La Paz -Peace Lodge Lunch Buffet

This full-day experience offers a deeper look into Costa Rica’s mountain landscapes, rainforest ecosystems, and coffee culture, thoughtfully woven into one scenic memorable journey.

We depart the estate in the morning with a relaxed ride to the highlands, beginning with a stop at Hacienda Alsacia, a working coffee farm set among the lush hillsides. Here , guests can explore the grounds and enjoy a purchase from the most picturesque Starbucks perched on hills over looking a coffee coloured waterfall. *please note any purchases made are at additional cost to participants

Hacienda Alsacia, Starbucks Coffee Farm

From Hacienda Alsacia, we continue to Poás Volcano, one of Costa Rica’s most iconic natural landmarks. Weather permitting, guests can walk a short, well-maintained trail to the crater overlook and take in the volcanic landscape and surrounding cloud forest.

After the Volcano we make our way to La Paz Waterfall Gardens, a privately protected rainforest reserve. Wander through lush trails to 5 majestic waterfalls with stunning lookouts that offer incredible mist filled moments that feel truly magical. The beautiful gardens, and animal sanctuaries showcase rescued and native wildlife and feature a Toucan Feeding Station, Jungle Cats, Sloths, Monkeys, McCaw’s, Butterfly Observatory & Hummingbird Garden

Lunch is enjoyed just steps away from the hummingbird garden at Peace Lodge’s Colibries Restaurant (a 4 Forks Rated establishment) where a buffet-style meal is served in a tranquil setting that allows us to pause and nourish ourselves before enjoying the waterfalls and returning to casa hermosa.

This day offers awe, adventure, wonder, and perspective – followed by a gentle return to rest and integration.

Things to know:

On Tropical Tuesday our drive to our 1st stop at El Jardin is just over an hour away from our retreat home, the additional stops along the way are all in close proximity. After our sunset dinner the return trip to Casa Hermosa Vista is 1.5 hours

On Wednesday our drive to our 1st stop at Hacienda Alsacia is just 1 hour away from our retreat home, the Volcano is located 30 minutes from there, and our final destination to La Paz is a scenic trip under 30 minutes. Our return down from the mountains during golden hour is just over 1.5 hours back to our retreat home in the Hills of Paradise.

The walk through the paved paths to the waterfalls is downhill, and offers handrails.

Walking sticks are available at the Peace Lodge

There are some areas to rest along the walk as well as a cafe, gift shop & restrooms at the end and beginning of the trail system.

The trail is about 1.5 kilometers long and takes approximately 45 minutes to an hour to walk at a relaxed pace.

We will aim to spend 5-10 minutes at each waterfall and estimate the duration of the hike to be 2- 2.5 hours

You do not need to do the entire hike and can return to the animal sanctuaries and gardens at any point.

Interpretive guides are on site to help make this immersive experience even more informative & accessible.

A shuttle bus awaits you at the end of the walk to return you to the La Paz Peace Lodge

Provided transportation will return you to Casa Hermosa Vista departing at 5pm

Enjoy a restful, unprogrammed evening, after a day spent recalibrating your nervous system through immersion in nature, and get ready for your on-site massage the next morning.
